Privacy Policy
THE SHORT VERSION
- No ads, no tracking and no analytics, in the app or on this website.
- Your settings, game list, backups and logs stay on your PC.
- Information leaves your PC only to do something you asked for: activating a licence key, sending a problem report when you press Send, downloading mashups, and checking for updates.
- We never sell your information.
1. Who we are
Mashup Launcher is run by the owner of Mashup Launcher, a sole proprietor in Ontario, Canada (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Mashup Launcher desktop app (the “App”) and this website. Contact: emailour contact email (coming soon).
2. What stays on your PC
The App keeps these on your own computer, and doesn’t send them to us:
- your settings;
- the list of games it found and where they’re installed;
- the record of every file it changed, and your save backups;
- its logs;
- your licence key and whether it’s active;
- the Minecraft setup it makes for a mashup (through Prism Launcher).
3. When the App goes online, and what it sends
| When | Who receives it | What’s sent |
|---|---|---|
| Checking the mashup list and for app updates | GitHub (Microsoft) | A normal web request: your IP address and the App’s version. The list is signed, so the App knows it came from us. |
| Installing a mashup | The official sites of each mashup, mod and tool (for example GitHub, Nexus Mods, CurseForge, Modrinth, a mod author’s website) | Normal web requests: your IP address. If you choose to connect a Nexus Mods account, the access Nexus gives the App is kept on your PC and used only to download files. |
| Signing in to Minecraft | Microsoft and Mojang, through Prism Launcher | You sign in on Microsoft’s own page. We never see your password. |
| Activating and checking a licence key | Lemon Squeezy | The licence key and a device name (the App sends “Mashup Launcher on” followed by your PC’s name). The App checks the key again from time to time. |
| Sending a problem report (only when you press Send) | Our report service, which saves it in a private GitHub repository only we can read, and posts a short notice in our team’s Discord | See section 5. |
| Playing a gameplay clip (only when you press Play) | YouTube (its privacy-enhanced mode) or GitHub (our own recordings) | A normal web request. YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to its player. |
Links you open from the App open in your web browser, under that website’s own policy.
4. Buying the full library
Lemon Squeezy processes payments as the merchant of record. It collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive the order details we need to provide your licence key and support (such as your email address, name, country and what you bought). We never see your full card number.
5. Problem reports
The App sends a problem report only when you press Send. A report contains:
- what you wrote, and any contact details you chose to add;
- the latest part of the App’s log, and the mashup’s Minecraft log when it didn’t start, cleaned first: your Windows user name, home folder, email addresses, licence keys, passwords and access tokens, and your Minecraft player name are removed;
- the App’s version, your Windows version and basic hardware facts (memory, processor count), the mashup’s name, and whether the full library is on;
- a random report ID the App makes once, so we can tell reports from the same PC apart. It isn’t based on you, your PC or your licence key.
If you’re offline, the report waits on your PC and is sent later.
6. This website
This website has no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and loads nothing from other sites. Like every website, its hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, under the provider’s own policy.
7. How we use information
Only to provide and support the App: to activate and check licence keys, deliver what you bought, answer you, find and fix problems, prevent abuse such as shared keys, and meet our legal obligations (for example tax records). We don’t use it for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it.
8. Who we share it with
Only the service providers named above (Lemon Squeezy, GitHub, Discord, and the companies that host our report service and this website), each for its own part of the job; anyone we must share it with by law; and a business that takes over the App, under this policy.
These providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it’s subject to local laws.
9. How long we keep it
- Problem reports: until the problem is dealt with, and no longer than 12 months.
- Order and licence records: for as long as the licence is active and as long as tax law requires (in Canada, generally six years).
- Emails with us: as long as needed to help you.
10. Your choices and rights
You don’t have to send problem reports. You can delete everything the App keeps on your PC by using Remove and then uninstalling it. You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting emailour contact email (coming soon). If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the privacy authority where you live.
11. Children
The App and this website aren’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. Games in the library carry their own age ratings.
12. Security
We keep what we hold in services protected by sign-in and two-factor authentication, and the App sends everything over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
13. Changes
We’ll post any update to this policy here with a new date and, for important changes, tell you in the App.
